We are very proud to invite all colleagues in the metallurgical field to participate in the 3rd International Metallurgical Processes Workshop for Young Scholars (IMPROWYS) held in Shenyang, China from July 26 to 28, 2021. IMPROWYS is an international conference held biennially since 2017, which aims to provide opportunities for researchers and engineers from all over the world to showcase their academic achievements and share their ideas in the fields of refining and oxide metallurgy, solidification process, metal forming and joining, and microstructure and mechanical performance. Significant advancements in all aspects of research, development, and applications shall be covered within technical presentations and posters.

In 2021, we expand our IMPROWYS conference by a close collaboration with University of Leicester, UK. Such a unique initiative has been made possible under the bi-lateral agreement between British Council and NSFC under the 2020-RLWK12-10091 Researcher Links Workshop scheme.

IMPROWYS 2021 will be organized by The Chinese Society of Metals (CSM), hosted by Northeastern University and University of Leicester, and sponsored by National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC), China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), and British Council. During the conference, experts will share the latest developments and ideas in the field of metallurgy, and discuss the latest achievements in-depth to create new ideas, to promote the coordinated development of different metallurgical fields. We hope this conference will help to expand your knowledge in the field of metallurgy and further your development at the forefront of this research field.

Selected papers of IMPROWYS 2021 will be invited to submit to the flagship Metallurgical and Materials Transactions A & B as sustained topical collections.
