The City of Shenyang

Shenyang is the largest city in Northeast China with a history of more than 2,300 years. It is the political, economic, and cultural center of Liaoning province, as well as an important industrial base. 

Tourist Attractions in Shenyang

(1) Shenyang Imperial Palace

The Shenyang Imperial Palace is the only existing royal palace in China outside of the Forbidden City in Beijing. The main structure was built in 1625 when Nurhachi was in power. It was finished in 1636 by his son Abahai (Huangtaiji). Nurhachi and Abahai were both founding emperors of the Qing Dynasty. The Shenyang Imperial Palace houses many ancient cultural relics, such as Nurhachi's sword and Abahai's broadsword. There are also many artworks displayed here, such as paintings, calligraphy, pottery, sculptures, and lacquerware. It was approved by UNESCO as a World Cultural Heritage Site in 2004 as an extension of the Forbidden City and is now the most popular and renowned tourist attraction in Shenyang.

(2) Marshal Zhang’s Mansion Museum

Marshal Zhang’s Mansion Museum is the largest and perfectly preserved former residence of celebrities in modern times and is reputed to be the first former residence of celebrities in Northeast China. The museum is renowned for historic buildings and connected courtyards featuring the courtyard dwellings of palace style, the eaves, and ridges, the carved beams and painted rafters, the Big Grey Building of European style, the Frontier Bank, the office building, the magnificent red mansion clusters in the western courtyard, the Small grey Building of Chinese and Western Style and the Former Residence of Zhao Yidi, which constitute a spectacular and unique landscape.

  

(3) Shenyang Botanical Garden

Shenyang Botanical Garden is located in the eastern suburbs of Shenyang City. It covers an area of 189 hectares (467 acres) and proudly regards showing various kinds of plants from the Northeast, North, Northwest, and Inner Mongolia of China as its main task. In addition, it has become a tourist attraction, with over 1,700 kinds of plants, even including a rare plant, the Korean pine, now to be seen growing in Shenyang City. In this Botanical Garden, you will find undulating hills, a lake rippled by breezes, evergreen pine trees, and beautiful flowers. In addition to all of this, you can also enjoy flowing waterfalls and elegant pavilions. Many people will choose summer to go there because more flowers are in blossom and the Cuihu Lake also provides visitors with much entertainment. Nowadays, the garden is part of the World Horticultural Expo Zone.

 

The Tiexi plant of BMW Brilliance is one of the most advanced and sustainable plants in China's automotive industry. Currently, Tiexi's product lineup includes BMW X1, BMW X1 PHEV, BMW X2 and BMW 1 series sedans. At the beginning of 2017, the Tiexi factory was approved as a national AAAA-level tourist attraction after the evaluation by the Liaoning Provincial Tourist Attractions Rating Committee. This is the first production plant in China's automobile industry to receive this honor, and it is also a model of China's industrial tourism.
